The most important thing on this page: everything you put on a handle is public. Anyone who knows or guesses the handle can see the location, the label, the address and the what3words address attached to it. That is what a handle is for. Your email address, your phone number and your payment details are not part of a handle and are never shown.
locates.me is run by Michael Stannard, who is the data controller for the purposes of UK and EU data protection law. The site is built and maintained on his behalf by Davies IT, 21 Martell Road, West Dulwich, London.

Your email address, because it is how you sign in and how we reach you about your account, and a scrambled form of your password that cannot be turned back into the password itself. If you give us a phone number it is kept as a way of contacting you about your account and for our own records. It is never shown to anyone looking up a handle.
The handle itself, the coordinates you point it at, and anything optional you add - a label, a postal address, a what3words address. All of it is published at that handle's web address, to anyone at all. Leave a field blank if you would rather it were not.
We keep this because publishing it is the service. You can change or delete any of it from your account page at any time.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us - we never see a card number. We keep the identifiers Stripe gives us for your customer record and your subscription, so that we know whether your handles should be working.
There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind on this site. Our web server keeps ordinary access logs, as every web server does. The only thing stored in your browser is what keeps you signed in, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
Running a website means other companies handle some of this on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes set out above:
We do not sell anything to anybody, and there is nobody else.
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Deleting your account from your account page does most of that immediately and needs no permission from us. Anything else, email hello@locates.me and we will answer within a month.
If you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so by email before it takes effect. The date at the top is when it was last changed.
